Impacted Wisdom Teeth Removal

We’ve observed that some practices in the community are offering “low-cost” or “flat-fee” pricing for wisdom teeth extractions. Unfortunately, many of these offices do not have AAOMS Board-Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons on staff. In fact, some practitioners may not be oral surgeons or specialists in any dental field. Dr. Ronald Katz is a Board-Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ABOMS). When selecting an oral surgeon, it’s essential to ensure they hold this board certification from the ABOMS.

Dr. Katz employs state-of-the-art, minimally invasive radiofrequency surgical techniques, which promote quicker recovery and faster healing. What does this mean?  Simply put, no scalpels or blades. With radiowave surgery (also known as radiosurgery or radiofrequency surgery), patients experience minimal bleeding, swelling, and postoperative discomfort. Dr. Katz also offers the use of Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) to further enhance wound healing and recovery.

The patient or any other responsible party has the right to refuse to pay, cancel payment, or be reimbursed for any service, examination, or treatment performed as a result of and within 72 hours of responding to this advertisement for free or reduced-fee services.

Dr. Katz offers dental implants at a reduced cost for patients who do not have insurance coverage for this procedure. Typically, the cost of a dental implant starts at $3,000, and many insurance plans do not provide benefits for implants. However, more insurance companies are beginning to recognize that dental implants are often the best treatment option for patients. The fee listed represents the average amount our office is reimbursed by insurance for this service.  Additionally, if you require multiple implants, Dr. Katz offers further discounts.

A consultation with Dr. Katz is necessary to review all treatment options. To help minimize your expenses, the consultation fee will be applied toward your future surgery. If you have a current panoramic X-ray, please bring it with you, or we can take a new one in-office.

Dr. Katz uses only the highest-quality implants, supported by extensive research and well-documented in the dental literature. The implants he currently places include Neodent Straumann, ZimVie Dental, Nobel Biocare, and BICON. For patients interested in metal-free options, we also offer Zirconia implants.

It is important to note that many practitioners placing dental implants are not specialists in any field of dentistry (e.g., Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Orthodontists, Endodontists). Additionally, some specialists may not be board-certified. Dr. Ronald Katz is a Board-Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

What does it mean to be Board-Certified?

Education

Dr. Katz has graduated from an accredited dental school and is licensed in the State of Florida. In addition, he has completed an oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program approved by the American Dental Association’s Commission on Dental Accreditation.

The American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is recognized by the American Dental Association as the specialty board for oral and maxillofacial surgery. The Board is responsible for reviewing all applicants for board certification as well as administering the examinations involved in the certification process.

During Dr. Katz‘s oral and maxillofacial surgery residency, he received graduate training in other disciplines such as general surgery, plastic surgery, medicine, anesthesia and pathology. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons are trained to treat patients in the hospital, outpatient facilities, surgery centers and in private offices.

Certification

In order to become board certified, an individual must complete an intensive application and examination process. Applicants for board certification in oral and maxillofacial surgery must provide verified written evidence of their educational and training qualifications. In addition, these individuals must provide evidence of their experience in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery. Letters of recommendation from board certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons attesting to an applicant’s acceptable ethical and moral standing in the profession and community are also required as part of the certification procedure. The applications of all candidates for board certification are reviewed by the Board’s Credentials Committee.

Continued Competence

Finally, Dr. Katz was required to pass both a thorough written qualifying examination and a rigorous oral certifying examination to be certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Diplomates are encouraged to maintain current competence by ongoing continuing education.

Diplomates are recertified in current competency every ten years by a comprehensive written examination.

Continuing professional education is an important tool keeping Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons current on new developments in the field. This is accomplished through national meetings, seminars, lectures, special courses, panels, symposia, and self study. The Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon has demonstrated a commitment to continued professional development. The American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery encourages its Diplomates to continue their professional development through various educational experiences.
