Cirugía de mentón
Chin Augmentation is a common procedure which brings balance to the facial structure by way of correcting a weak chin due to congenital deficiency, age-related bone resorption or facial trauma. This procedure can be as simple as injecting a temporary soft tissue augmentation filler to implanting a Silicone or Porex implant, to having a sliding genioplasty. We will cover all the ways you are able to enhance your chin.
A weak chin can also make a normal nose appear large and an already prominent nose seem even larger. It may also give the appearance of a ‘fleshy’ neck. Por otro lado, a too prominent chin may give the appearance of having too small of a nose or otherwise throwing the face off balance. The end result should be a balanced relationship within the structure of the face.
While chin enhancement can be a relatively simple procedure, it still requires good judgment, skill and a good aesthetic eye. Chin Surgery can offer one of the most striking cosmetic facial changes. A receding chin is usually due to the underdevelopment of the lower face and jaw. This is frequently a genetic condition and may be seen in other family members.
In addition to complimenting the profile, chin surgery can also tighten and enhance the sagging skin or fatty tissues in the neck. Along with chin surgery minor neck liposuction may also enhance the chin and address fatty or sagging neck skin.
(BEFORE CHIN ADVANCEMENT) (AFTER CHIN ADVANCEMENT)
The simplest approach to chin augmentation is with the placement of a chin implant. This operation usually takes less than an hour and can be performed in the office with IV sedation. It requires about a week of recovery. Silicone implants prove to be very successful and extremely well tolerated by the body. The new anatomic chin implants feel natural and follow the contours of the lower jaw line. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes to fit the anatomy and esthetics of each patient.
The implants are easily placed through an incision inside the mouth avoiding an external scar on the face. After chin surgery, the patient will usually experience minor swelling, bruising and possibly a temporary loss of sensation of the lower lip. These conditions usually resolve in about 1-2 weeks.
An alternative method of moving a chin backward or forward is called a Sliding Genioplasty. The Sliding Genioplasty advances the patient’s actual chin by moving the lower portion of the jaw. Dr. Katz makes an incision with radiowave surgical device inside the lower lip. The sliding genioplasty is used in severe cases or in instances where the chin must be lengthened or moved backward. The actual bony chin portion of the jaw is then cut and advanced or moved back. This segment is then secured with a tiny titanium plate and screws. This may require outpatient general anesthesia or done in the office with Intraveous Sedation Anesthesia. You may return to normal activities within 5-10 días.
